Square

Pronunciation: /skwɛər/ Explain

A square is a four-sided polygon whose sides intersect at right angles.^[2] All four sides of a square are the same length.

Properties of Squares

• A square is also a rectangle.
• Perimeter of a square: P = 4s where s is the length of one side.
• Area of a square: A = s² where s is the length of one side.
• Center of a square:
  
  where (x₁, y₁) is coordinate of the upper left corner of the square and (x₂, y₂) is the lower right corner of the square.
• Equation of a circle inscribed in a square:
  
  where (x₁, y₁) is coordinate of the upper left corner of the square, (x₂, y₂) is the lower right corner of the square and s is the length of a side.
